Periodontal disease

Periodontal disease is more common than dental caries.  Periodontal disease occurs in two forms i.e. Gingivitis and Periodontitis.  In most cases it can start, develop and progress to the loss of some or all your teeth without you experiencing any pain or discomfort whatsoever.

Bleedings gums are a sign of the early stages of the disease.  As periodontal disease progresses, however, bleeding may disappear giving the false impression that the disease is no longer present.
